I also agree, and I wish someone would make her take that hat off in the kitchen!

bedazzledjewels, Jun 28, 1:31am
Very irritating, agreed.

esther-anne, Jun 28, 1:41am
I agree too about the silly hat which still leaves hair hanging all around her face - and she is over-emotional.Then again maybe we could be more charitable as she's only an 18 year old trying to do a woman's job!

rainrain1, Jun 28, 2:00am
rather have the hat, than all those sweaty faces dripping into the food the night before

nfh1, Jun 28, 2:16am
Oh yes - the guy wrestling with the duck looked a little warm!

bedazzledjewels, Jun 28, 2:50pm
Drippingly warm. So let's hope the drips and tears leave the show soon so we can focus on the cooking!
Disappointing dessert from the teary one last night anyway. Suspect she and Ben are connecting in other ways too!

duckmoon, Jun 28, 4:32pm
I think she is sweet

duckmoon, Jun 28, 4:34pm
My question is: why didn't she cut the cheese cake out, leave in mold and put in the blast chiller.

So she is cooling less volume !

bedazzledjewels, Jun 28, 4:42pm
That's a good thought Duckmoon. For someone who specialises in dessert, I would have expected something a bit more creative than that cheesecake. The other one looked awesome!
I've got a question too.
Is all the food cold by the time they do the tasting!
They always seemed to have got someone in to clean up the benches then wait to be called up.
By that time the food must be cold, unless they put it under heat lamps.

Agree about the annoying weepy behatted one. That hat makes me think of knitted fingerless gloves and looks very unhygienic.I had the impression that she was told to make a cheesecake by the main bloke (Andy!); she looked unhappy at the prospect.

I'm told that the food is usually room temperature by the time the judges get it.Sometimes you can see that sauces have started to separate from standing around. No wonder George takes such tiny little pieces.

bedazzledjewels, Jun 28, 5:25pm
Talking of tiny pieces - that French chef the other night was barely nibbling during his tastings!
The hat makes me think of tea cosies. She's such a pretty girl that it would nice to see her hair!

miri_s, Jun 28, 10:48pm
I am a little skeptical of dishes which purport to be deconstructed this and thats. However, that deconstructed lemon tart looked like it would have tasted incredible.

trader_spence, Jun 29, 12:26am
Does anyone else find Filipo a bit scary!

bedazzledjewels, Jun 29, 12:31am
Yes - and a feeling of impending doom in the Red team kitchen.

rainrain1, Jun 29, 12:49am
he's lovely, hope he does well

kiwigal007, Jun 29, 12:51am
And here come the water works. AGAIN.

trader_spence, Jun 29, 1:04am
You were right, will be interesting to see what happens on Monday :)

duckmoon, Jun 29, 1:47am
I sooo want to do a challenge like tonight's.

I would love to do a team challenge like tonight's.

And agree with the judges comments that menu planning is the most significant part of the challenge. A dessert which is pre cooked makes service soooo much easier

bedazzledjewels, Jun 29, 1:57am
How many times do they say that they rarely see properly cooked chocolate fondants on Masterchef!
Might visit those restaurants next time I'm in Sydney.

esther-anne, Jun 29, 2:57am
Me too, he's so earnest and eager to please but self-effacing at the same time.

duckmoon, Jun 29, 3:15am
The advantage is you can make each bit, without having to get the whole thing right in the right in the right moment.

You don't need to cook the pastry perfectly, when the tart is filled.

Rather cook the filling, and then make a pastry, crumb it (again doesn't need to be perfect, because it is crumbed) and add some fruit.

Easier than a tart

duckmoon, Jun 29, 3:16am
I thought he held himself well when on the trip to Philip island where the woman with veil kept looking for her fish, and they ran out of time because of her fish.

baccini, Jun 29, 4:29am
I agree. I think her name is Emma. She seems to lack maturity; highly emotional.

duckmoon, Jun 29, 5:02am
I have moved since watching today's episode. Now she just annoys me

miri_s, Jun 29, 6:25am
Exactly, too often amateur contestents in these shows use the ploy of a deconstructed "something", as a foil for lack of real cooking skills. They need to learn how to make the proper tart first and be able to "get it right" each and every time.
