I think they use ovens because a) you can fit more food in them to reheat simultaneously and b) can heat the food trays pre-wrapped in foil

coast_palms, May 23, 2:26am
I used to do alot of location catering and we used to use a "hot box". Like a warmer drawer but very portable for helicopters & 4x4's. Hot box used to cover some weird terrain on LOTR. Always kept pastry relatively crisp.

coast_palms, May 23, 2:28am
Tony and Ana for the final. Chelsea dodged yet another bullet. How many is that now!.5.

And I agree, Gault was falling over himself in praise for Chelseas crappy mousse.

charlieb2, May 23, 4:51am
he fluked it a bit there with his fresh fruit salad. he was going to make something else, but forgot the flour during the pantry run!

charlieb2, May 23, 4:51am
I'm still feeling a bit ripped off on Ana's behalf, that Chelsea should NOT be there after last night.

davidt4, May 23, 5:00am
In any other cooking contest undercooked chicken would send someone home immediately. Not to mention that it was for an airline, where food safety is paramount.

beaker59, May 23, 5:00am
Have to agree but then while you have to have some talent lately it has become a bit of a lottery on these shows. The thing is this was actually a good challenge for a change and no one was eliminated yet others get eliminated for being a tad slow cooking someone elses recipe.

willyow, May 23, 6:26am
Can someone tell us how they reheatfood on planes - is it microwave or not! (Must be an ex hostie here somewhere!)It's probably important is you have puff pastry ( which I've never seen on a plane).

elliehen, May 23, 6:33am
I asked friend Google and this was the top answer:

"I see many different answers and most of them are right. It depends on the plane and airline. I'm an AMT and work mostly on 747's. For example Qantas just have electric convection ovens. All the meals are supplied half cooked, then cabin crew heat/cook the meals. JAL has microwaves, ricecookers, electric ovens and heated trollies."

+ 100.

I found it dishonest and certainly a reason for Ana and Brenton to feel totally put out.

I think one of those two will win - probably Ana.

And yes! Simon has an obvious favourite each series.

Amen-lol!

jude361, May 23, 7:37am
How about a change of judges for the next series!Am not a favourite of any of them - seem pretty stuck up and too self important to me

lizab, May 23, 7:53am
the judges mentioned that a spicy curry would not be suitable for a plane load of passengers, yet Simon felt quite happy with undercooked chicken being served!! I think the airline would not be appreciative of someone giving a huge portion of their passengers food poisoning at worst! Jeez! Chelsea should have gone WEEKS AGO! I hope she departs next week!

bedazzledjewels, May 23, 6:30pm
Ha ha - and yes, the only thing hot about Simon is his Mustang! It makes lots of noise too!

pogram0, May 24, 9:35am
There is a lot of comments about Chelsea and the fact that she should have been knocked out but she has been in the top two for the past two weeks which stood her in good stead. I think Brenton is the weakest of the four remaining contestants.

charlieb2, May 24, 9:44am
Yes, but others have been knocked out after performing well in previous weeks. Its the nature of the competition.

I think it was all about having an 'even' number to do the Singapore segment!

coast_palms, May 25, 6:21am
Huh!

nfh1, May 25, 8:54am
Yes - they would have either had to have 3 in Business or one poor contestant sat alone in economy!

charlieb2, May 25, 9:38am
lol. well there is that too.

I know what I meant, lol

bedazzledjewels, May 25, 7:26pm
I'll bet the judges weren't flying economy!

pogram0, May 26, 9:38am
Hmmmm. I've seen the promo for Tuesday evenings episode.I wonder who it is who breaks the rules!

sumstyle, May 26, 10:48am
Ray McVinnie didn't hold back tonight - I thought he was rude to Brenton re anchovies.Glad I haven't watched this series if that style of communication has been going on.

charlieb2, May 26, 11:44am
I STILL think its a numbers game and having the right amount of people for the challenge.Last year they sent someone to hotel confinment on the first day in New York for losing a challenge. If they'd only had three in Singapore and had to send one to coventry. it would basically be a 'final' straight away

rrrg, May 26, 9:05pm
Its all about what makes good viewing and nothing to do with the cooking at all in the end

superdave0_13, May 26, 9:35pm
The bald headed guy narcs on the other 3. You can sort of tell by the way it's edited.

I wonder if the judges pick up on how useless the cowntdown butcher was. He made a real hash of if and was gasping for air too by the end of it lol.

bedazzledjewels, May 28, 5:32pm
I will miss tonight's programme, so report in for me please.
