I'd like Brenton to win now that Charlene's gone.He has the qualities of honesty and humility without being self-effacing, while still believing in and backing himself.

duckmoon, May 15, 11:13am
I thought that she was going to win the whole series.

I don't think that chelsea is the best cook on the show.
But would be happy to be her guest at Merdith restaurant

elliehen, May 15, 11:25am
Is Chef Meredith of Samoan ethnicity!

elliehen, May 15, 11:28am
Pick me!I've just looked at the menu and a photo gallery of the food.

It's wonderful, Ellie. Yes, I think he's part Samoan.
I love the way the menu just mentions the 4 main ingredients. Means that the waiting staff have to be able to describe the dish and how it's cooked in quite some detail.

A strange time to put this article up on Stuff. Looks like these are the finalists!

Sad for Charlene but she was looking increasingly weak so it wasn't a huge surprise. As for the final. I really hope it isn't Brenton. That guy has been lucky week in and week out.

I still think Tony is the best cook there even with the mistakes yesterday.

nfh1, May 15, 9:50pm
Not looking!

coast_palms, May 15, 9:54pm
To tell you the truth, I thought the dessert was a little weird. To have 11 different components was just a bit much. And toasted biscuit crumbs.odd.
I'm sure it tasted out of this world, but personally I like my dessert or the finish of a meal to be less designed flavour and more recognizable.
I like desserts to be simpler.maybe 3 diff flavours max.

Sad to see Charlene go home. I relate to what she was saying as her goodbye, about food being all about the love.

Here's the recipe -

I've eaten one of Michael's chocolate-inspired desserts before. Not exactly the same as this one. It was out of this world!

duckmoon, May 15, 10:32pm
Charlene knows how to cook her own food, the recent tests have been recreating another persons dish

elliehen, May 15, 10:52pm
Ebony and Ivory ;)Chosen for camera appeal as well!

The Ivory comes from a foodie family'tis said.

lyl_guy, May 15, 11:09pm
Tony and Chelsea for the final, is my guess. Was a shock last night when Charlene left!

pickles7, May 15, 11:18pm
Same, that wouldn't have gone out of my kitchen.

miri_s, May 15, 11:23pm
"It's been a bad day in the kitchen for [insert contestant's name here]."

Simon Gault repeats numerous variations on this theme in any given episode :-P

mwood, May 15, 11:25pm
Anybody know the Restaurant menu charge for this desert ! and is it it pre made and then assembled prior to service !

coast_palms, May 15, 11:30pm
I have no idea of price, but would think it'd defo be pre-made, then assembled with order.
He is running a degustation menu ATM, so maybe pre-assembled based on bookings! (which are essential)

coast_palms, May 15, 11:38pm
If I'd been in Ana's shoes whilst Josh (the only man on tv who could successfully compete with a log of radiata pine in the animation stakes) was winding me up about missing my daughter's first birthday I would have Zorro-ed his Zambesi suit with my Mundial.

Nog head.

bedazzledjewels, May 15, 11:46pm
Mwood - Merediths only serves degustation these days so it's an all-inclusive price. I would think that each element is pre-prepared then assembled when ordered!

elliehen, May 16, 12:28am
This is what it says on the website and the prices are there too:

"Tuesday to Thursday evenings and for Friday lunches, we offer a 6 course and an 8 course tasting menu with optional wine matches.

A nine course degustation menu is the only menu available on Friday and Saturday evenings with an optional wine match. Vegetarian menu on request."

mwood, May 16, 1:23am
Yes in my restaurant/hotel days it was calledTable d'hôte - a set menu at a set price - very cost effective LOL edit : normally written as "Table de'hôtel" for NZ comprehension.

nfh1, May 16, 1:43am
I think in France there is still a TDH Menu everyday in most restaurants.

elliehen, May 16, 1:50am
A few of us ignoramuses do know that 'hôte' means 'host' ;)

mwood, May 16, 3:01am
yes but as for the other ignoramuses we needed to write it as"Table de'hôtel" for NZ comprehension. The concept of a "host" was beyond their expectations- you know "house wine" - "house table food" ! LOL

gingercrush, May 16, 3:17am
Charlene decided to boil pork in one meal. Her restaurant three course meal wasn't that successful. And I never said she couldn't cook. She clearly can. But her cooking has been getting weaker compared to other contestants.
