I agree Miri.
This particular series is quite a step up in terms of challenges offering fine dining and haute cuisine type challenges.
It's much more interesting to see them replicating and interpreting a chefs work rather than opening it up to the contestants to dream up dish ideas.

Too much of that last year left people like Stu still in the top group. I think he made a homey style soup as a dish in the final weeks. Poor choice.

It's sending a message to them to continually up their game in terms of genre of dish.

I started in the sink and washed dishes until 1am, then cleaned deep fat fryers, then swept and mopped the kitchen floors. Used to get out of there around 2.30am. Gainsborough House 1987. For 2 years.

That's where I started my cooking career.

coast_palms, May 8, 9:58pm
Such helpful input from a trader who hasn't bought, hasn't sold and has spent the 7 years they have been a member on here attempting to throw lame insults.
Do us all a big favour and hold your breath for a long, long time.

The Word 'Master; is an absolute joke

iman007, May 9, 4:41am
oooooh, hit a nerve did we!

elliehen, May 12, 8:34am
Just started collecting Masterchef clichés.

'I'm absolutely gutted.'

'Bring it on.'

I sat next to Tony and Dave at Heston Blumenthal last week. And Matt's girl fling was in front of us (sorry, forget her name)
Tony is mighty tall.

A bit dissapointed in the masterclass tonight they talked about wild foods etc then one cooked a farmed rabbit(don't try that with a wild rabbit it would be like leather) the other guy cooked a lambs neck then simon did a farmed buffalo sirloin. Was looking forward to some good wild meat cooking. Liked what was done with the neck though.

Michel's prep looked too complex for some of the contestants. Some of them looked a bit overwhelmed.
I won't be throwing away my broccoli stalks anymore though.

elliehen, May 12, 11:37pm
I was definitely overwhelmed trying to follow all the steps.was only trying to pick up incidental tips and even that was hard.

I always cut broccoli into medallions and put them in the small amount of water at the bottom of the pot, with the florets sticking above the water level to steam.

bedazzledjewels, May 14, 10:59pm
I'm really looking forward to Michael Meredith's creation tonight.
If you want to check out his website -

So who do you think's going home tonight!

duckmoon, May 15, 5:10am
simon

opps, he is a judge. (hehe)

charlieb2, May 15, 6:37am
lol duckmoon. awww harsh, poor wee Simon!;-)

Looked like there was a bit of a 'thang' with Ana and Charlene again tonight, in the shorts!

elliehen, May 15, 6:49am
Poor 'wee' Simon! He needs to work on that gut or he soon won't be able to tie his own shoe-laces.

learner2, May 15, 7:16am
This show has taught me never to order rabbit in a restaurant.I like to feel full after a meal at a restaurant and rabbit would make me go running to the nearest fast food joint to get more food, what a rip lol.

learner2, May 15, 7:17am
Oh and that blonde woman, always looks like someone just farted in her face during the cooking classes.

bedazzledjewels, May 15, 8:31am
That was a surprise.

nfh1, May 15, 8:41am
It was a surprise.

learner2, May 15, 9:08am
NOOO Not Charleen the only real cook on this show!

scoobydoo2, May 15, 9:23am
"I dodged a bullet this time"another cliche

elliehen, May 15, 10:03am
I thought Tony was lucky to get through with his 'dry' dessert.

seniorbones, May 15, 10:15am
nooooo.Charlene was the best! and at then end when she did the 'thanks' even simon looked like he was about to cry! dont like any of them now so dont think I will bother watching the rest.

lodgelocum, May 15, 10:25am
Wasn't expecting that, don't think she did the worst tonight, Ana probably should of gone, she had hardly anything on the plate.
