yes last night we finally saw some quality "chef" cooking and plating those 2 will be in the final 3. As for the last 2 - both should have gone but I'm sure that will be rectified on the next challenge LOL

elliehen, May 1, 11:34pm
Finally mwood can come out from behind his couch ;)

bedazzledjewels, May 1, 11:37pm
Phew, that's a relief!

Ellie - that's a beautiful looking blog.

miri_s, May 2, 1:53am
Tony's dishes demonstrated such finesse- I knew he was the dark horse of the competition, that one.

bedazzledjewels, May 5, 7:21am
I wonder what delights they'll whip up tonight in Masterclass!

elliehen, May 5, 8:24am
The duck looks like your kind of dish, BJ ;)I'll take Ray McVinnie's couscous salad with white fish instead of the prawns.

charlieb2, May 5, 11:23am
I thought the coucous dish sounded the best of the bunch tonight and btw did any one think Brenton looked a bit picked on and unhappy tonight!

elliehen, May 5, 11:39am
I think he might have been feeling sensitive about his reputation for lack of expertise in the 'plating' department.

vivvie41, May 5, 8:16pm
If Brenton learns how to plate up and gains more confidence in himself I he could win this. He dishes up some yummy flavour combinations that's for sure!

bedazzledjewels, May 5, 8:49pm
DT4 - is your relative in the final 6!

bedazzledjewels, May 5, 9:57pm
Excellent. Good luck to him/her now that it's down to the business end of things.

charlieb2, May 5, 11:50pm
Oh how cool.

bedazzledjewels, May 8, 1:48am
So it's off to Huka Lodge tonight. I'm looking forward to this one.

elliehen, May 8, 1:52am
The promos tease so much about who is going home.

I wonder how many people know the final result and if there'll be a spoiler soon!

bedazzledjewels, May 8, 1:58am
I don't think they've had the final yet! They finalists go to work in Simon's restaurant, don't they! And then the final is filmed like the day or two before it's screened! Could be horribly wrong with this though! ;-)

miri_s, May 8, 2:02am
During the last Ozzie masterchef, were spoilers posted in Recipes in retaliation to Corro St. being rescheduled! They certainly were in General - it was such selfish behaviour.

Shame to see whatisname go.hehe. But, the best 5 are left IMO.
Great challenge.
Alittle niggle.it irked me when they have the interview bit where Brenton stated that the 6 remaining contestants were absolutely amazing chefs.
Bollocks.
They are home cooks who were fortunate enough to be selected for a tv cooking competition.
I doubt they will ever become chefs and get down and do the hard yards.

I cooked for 20 years, have my chef qualifications gained in 1992. When working in London I cooked for royalty ( Charles and diana), the editor of Vogue, Gourmet magazine, regularly cooked for Seal and paul McCartney. Have worked on film sets and cooked for plenty of others besides celebs and famous types.
Never used to call myself a chef.felt as though I did not have enough depth of experience & knowledge. Not blowing my opwn trumpet.just sayin it'd be refreshing to see someone on that show appear without the rose tinted specs.

coast_palms, May 8, 9:02am
and whats the bet they never wash their own dishes.!

cappucino1, May 8, 9:38am
Not blowing your own trumpet.yeah right!Everyone has to start somewhere and I guess this isn't where you started.Maybe none of them will reach your dizzying heights, maybe they will, but if it gives them a chance to realise their own cooking dreams then so be it!

elliehen, May 8, 10:04am
Please DO blow your own trumpet. It would be good to see input from someone of your experience.

I just had a quick look at your past posts and there are aren't many yet. Please take time off from the palms to add your special recipes, hints and tips here and there :)

doll53, May 8, 11:54am
I thought Tony had it easy (dessert) than the other contestants.

miri_s, May 8, 11:59am
Really! In these kind of shows (including Top Chef), time and time again the contestant who gets lumped with dessert gets sent home.

Desserts leave nothing to chance. You have to be incredibly precise with measurements and presentation.

miri_s, May 8, 12:01pm
Sounds like you've had a marvellous career!

It does seem to me, however, that these "home cooks"are being asked to prepare some fairly challenging dishes for their level. Some are doing rather well - even if they do not make a career out of this experience.

shop-a-holic, May 8, 12:55pm
The person sent home was deserved.

bedazzledjewels, May 8, 6:12pm
And it's a Michael Meredith dessert next week. One of my favourite chefs. I hope they give us the recipe for this dessert.
