Easy Healthy Bread

1 Cup plain flour
1 Cup wholemeal flour
1 Cup rolled oats
1 1/2 tsp salt

Mix above dry together.

Mix wet together to dissolve.

1 tsp honey
1 1/4 Tsp honey
2 tsp yeast

Add dry mix to wet mix.
Mix well.

Spray oil around loaf tin and add dough. Spray top with oil and leave to rise for 30 or so mins.

Bake 180 for 35 to 40 mins.

Be warned! This IS A WET DOUGH !
I find if I wet my hands first, I can get the dough into the loaf tin without sticking to my hands.

I add sunflower seeds and raisins to the dry mix and its wonderful. This one you can add what ever to!

Easy as and fast, no kneading either!

tehenga288, I'm sure you will love it.

korbo, Jan 7, 11:26pm
what sort of yeast do you use in this recipe.>>>thanks

lx4000, Jan 8, 2:43am
I use Edmonds all purpose yeast (yellow lid), the granules.

eljayv, Jan 8, 9:20pm
No oil and no butter!

davidt4, Jan 8, 9:33pm
It is not usual for bread to contain oil or butter.

eljayv, Jan 8, 10:53pm
Just the breadmaker recipes then I guess. However I made this one this morning and my son has given it the thumbs up.

Would love to try this, but I only have oatbran on hand. Can I use this instead of the rolled oats or will it give me the wrong consistency!

lx4000, Jan 9, 1:13am
sue1955, oat bran should be fine:)

Great that your son likes it eljayv, do you!

Yip on oil or butter. I often make bread (no recipe!) with no oil or butter but some times add it to make it stay fresher longer along with swapping some of the water for milk.

Alison Holst's bread book has a great one, all seeds, oats and wholemeal flour only. It's all I make, no knead, heavy brown loaf.

eljayv, Jan 9, 3:59am
Yes I enjoyed it.I processed the rolled oatsto make them fine and the recipe was still okay so I guess oat bran could work too.
I generally add oil as I think the bread stays soft longer.

lx4000, Jan 9, 4:47am
I add them as is and they come out as if it was ground up. No chunks of rolled oats.

Annabel Langbein also does a no knead bread. I have not made it yet, but Mum has and I have tried it, it is very nice.

dollmakernz, Jan 9, 8:18am
That sounds nice but I haven't got any wholemeal flour. If I substitute it with white flour do I use the same amount!
Thanks in advance
