after boiling two lots almost dry in a large pot, I am looking for a way to cook it that doesn't need my continual attention.Have also heard of it being baked in an oven if anyone has tried this method successfully would love to know.

Have you tried a crock pot!(I use pearl barley in soups I cook in the cp but I've never tried it by itself)

Never thought of that calista, but sounds like a good idea.Thank you for that.I am cooking it for my dogs at a packet at a time.Once it is cooked add the raw veges and raw meat, mix well and feed once cool enough.They love it.

cookiebarrel, pearl barley, cook as you would a rice pudding ,in the oven but with the addition of dried prunes. truely to die for.delicious.

Yes you can. I cook it the same as rice and it turns out OK
