Rice pudding in rice cooker

bobbie9, May 24, 11:47pm
Just bought a rice cooker and was wondering if anyone had tried successfully to make a rice pudding in their rice cooker. My cookbook that came with it does not have a recipe for it. Thanks

I have been thinking about that...
It takes 12 minutes to cook rice (in water)... and I cook my rice pudding for an hour or more...
So, my next rice pudding will be in the oven or slow cooker... Rather than rice cooker...

I would love to know if any one has tried it though

1 litre of milk, 4 level tablespoons uncooked rice, 1 tablespoon of sugar.
I heat milk in micowave a bit first so it cooks faster.
(you might want a bit more sugar, i don't like it too sweet)
cook on high in crockpot 2 and half to 3 hours. Stir occassionally while cooking to stop rice sticking.

Mango tropical creamed rice...
1 3/4 cups short grain rice, washed
1 cup mango nectar
1 cup water
450g can sliced peaches, drained, juice reserved
2 teaspoons lime rind
1/2 cup coconut cream
1/4 cup passionfruit pulp
1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar

place rice, mango nectar, water and reserved peach juice into the removable cooking bowl and stir to combine.cover with lid and press selector to cook.

cook until selector control switches to warm stir once during cooking.
stir rice mixture and fold through lime rind, coconut cream and passionfruit pulp, replace lid and stand for 10 minutes on warm.

serve warm with peaches and dusted cinnamon sugar.

this is out of my rice cooker recipe book it serves 4 to 6

That sounds awesome... . . I'll try it out this weekend!

now realise, you wanted it for a rice cooker not crockpot.
Mango rice recipe looks fab though, must try it.

Just tried this - total disaster - was way too dry and the bottom burnt even with a stir mid-way through. Wondering if that's the right amount of rice?

I'm coming in a bit late to this party but I did a rice pud in my rice cooker at the weekend and it was fab (and easy)!

1 cup white rice (I used aborio)
2 cups water

Cook

1 cup milk (I used trim)
1/2 cup sugar (I'd use a bit less next time as it was very sweet)
1t essence (I used almond)

Cook

This serves 4-6 and would be dead easy to modify such as adding raisins, cranberries, different essence (vanilla or coconut) adding fruit at the end etc
