I know Millies in Auckland sells them but they are quite pricey. Briscoes does a good range of pretty jars at a slightly (and I mean slightly) more reasonable price. I was lucky enough to be down at our local Op shop when they were loading boxes of them outside to be given away for free. They vanished into the boot of my car faster than they could get them out.

You could also check out your local P-n-S. Ours has preserving jars covered in bunches of raised grapes and vines.

None of these is exactly Mason jars but they are certainly pretty enough to use for presents. Agee jars are also another form of Mason jar and could be used at a pinch. The half size ones are available for our P-n-S as well.

Other than that have you tried the net!

You will often see them on Trademe. Most goof cookware stores sell them, but as I say, often on Trademe. You could also try Arthur Holmes who specialise in glass jars and bottles.

Most supermarkets now stock a range of preserving jars in various sizes and you can sometimes get them on special pre-Christmas and during the " preserving " season.
