I'm in the middle of making some nectarine/tomato relish & realised i can't do this in the oven as thebottom element has gone.....
can I do it in the microwave & if so how long do I Zap the jars for.

No the microwave wont do.

Do you have a large stock pot? if so do the same as you would with babies bottles. (10mins boil remove with tongs etc)

No problems. Also if you have a dishwasher you can put them on for a cycle and remove right after the washer has finished (while still hot) and go from there as well. But yes the old stock pot and boil does the trick nicely.

of course you can do them in the microwave. Fill with hot water and boil a few minutes. i always do this if I only want a few jars.

Thanks everyone, will do them in the dishwasher next time. all bottled & very pleased with myself as the nectarine & tomatoes were out of my garden.

Sounds a good mix - nice to have tomato with a twist.I was given a delicious relish at Christmas that's Plum, Lemongrass & Ginger.
