Sucking air out of bag before freezing!

What are they called!
Do you know the brand of a good one
I am wanting to freeze meals before I have c section with twins and have been told "make sure you get the air out before freezing.thanks much :-)

never mind I googled andfound this
immerse the bag in water, so the air gets pushed out, then seal it. It's a common technique used in sous-vide cooking (if you don't have a vacuum sealer, anyway), but it works as a cheap way to seal stuff for freezing, as well.
EDIT: as for effect, yes, the less air you have in there, the less moisture, which will help prevent ice crystals and freezer burn.

It is called a freezer pump for future reference.

I guess they still make them! but just a freezer vacuum hand pump is as good as anything for extracting the air.I've had mine for years.
