My favourite here:http://australianfood.about.com/od/pacificislandpolynesian/r/PumpkinDumpling.htm

For 2 c mashed pumpkin add:
3 egg yolks
1.5 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
A pinch of freshly ground black pepper

Boiling salted water or soup or boilup liquor and drop spoonfuls of the dough mixture into the water (its like the consistency of mashed potatoes)The dumplings will float to the surface when they're done.

Too much baking powder makes dumplings, to me dough boys are smaller and firmer. I use 1/4 tsp of baking powder to a cup of flour and pinch of salt. Add water to make a firm dough and roll into small balls

x1
i just use flour and water ( maybe a pinch of salt) make a dough and then brake bitsto sit on top of the boil up while its cookingit probabaly wouldnt be a good idea to add spices and such because it will go thru to your boil up and it wont taste good
if i was making a stew or something along those lines i would use SR flour but not in a boil up
