Where Would We Be Without Condensed Milk?

Look not all people on this earth are on facebook - I am one of them. I have no private facebook pages where I can "share" my sense of humour.
It also might have escaped you - but this message board is for everybody to participate in that has an account with TM, and this is exactly what we do.
If you don't like the sense of humour displayed in here - then why not go and participate in the other 3000 threads on the recipe board? Or even in the 10 000 threads in the other sections of the messageboard?
You have all had your say in a nasty thread called "war ... " - was that not enough? Do we need to continue with it? I don't think so - so go and play elsewhere with your pals - and don't lecture on stuff like "Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit" ...

indy95, Dec 30, 8:50pm
Uli, 3 cans of CM would be enough to loosen up practically anything, but just imagine the sugar rush !

griffo4, Dec 30, 9:06pm
Keep it up l have loved reading this thread and l just cannot believe that the offended ones can't just back out and go somewhere else without tainting the whole thread with their nasty snide remarks. lt must make them feel righteous and good telling others to stop having a bit of fun.
This has always been a free site for anyone to come and ask for help without fear of being ridiculed for not knowing everything but it is changing and the purists are scaring away ones who want to learn.
Go and start your own little web site where you can talk in your purists terms and let the rest of us "amateurs" (oops hope l don't offend anyone, lol) learn and enjoy this place.
Keep it up you guys l love coming over to have a look and l have learnt so much and love your humour
l use cm and cinnamon for diarrhoea and it works well and tastes really nice

uli, Dec 30, 9:06pm
Yep - saves on recreational drugs aye :)

uli, Dec 30, 9:08pm
griffo4 - WE are the "purists" LOL!

griffo4, Dec 30, 9:15pm
Oops l knew l would get it wrong, lol, l am with you lot anyway, keep it up

kirinesha, Dec 30, 9:18pm
Griffo4, a sense of humour is all that is needed here, so you are welcome! :)

uli, Dec 30, 9:20pm
LOL griffo4 :)

By the way elliehen has now blacklisted me so I cannot tell her the difference between "Low GI (= Glycemic Index) " and "LOW CARBOHYDRATE" in her listing. Never mind - she will sell the book eventually I guess.

davidt4, Dec 30, 11:20pm
I guess that's what happens when you laugh too loud. Keep it dainty uli! Or, as my mother used to say, "Keep yourself nice".

These are excellent recipes pgta. I actually have never had these recipes. I hope you don't mind, if, when I see thread asking for salad dressing I copy and paste them into those threads. There are many, many people who would really appreciate them.

There isn't a tofu and condensed milk recipe in your book anywhere is there?

pgta, Dec 31, 1:48am
Not tofu but if you want vegetarian try this one - maybe you could just add in tofu

Chilled Egg and Asparagus Quiche

200g shortcrust pastry
½ cup cream
½ tin Highlander Sweetened Condensed Milk
½ cup white wine vinegar
½ tsp prepared mustard
1 x 340g tin asparagus spears
2 ½ teaspoons gelatine
½onion
6 hard boiled eggs
2 tblspns chopped parsley
¼ tsp turmeric
Salt & pepper
Cayenne Pepper
Extra asparagus spears for decoration

Roll out pastry large enough to fit a 22cm round fluted flan dish. Bake blind at 220 degrees for 10 mins. Remove the blind baking material and return to oven for a further 10 mins. Allow to cool. Lightly whip the cream. Mix together the Highlander milk, vinegar and mustard to make Highlander mayonnaise. Drain the asparagus and reserve ¼ cup of the liquid. Sprinkle the gelatine over the reserved liquid and allow to swell. Dissolve gelatine by standing over a basin of hot water. Cut the asparagus spears into thirds. Peel and finely chop or grate the onion. Shell the eggs and cut into quarters. In a large bowl carefully mix together the Highlander mayo, asparagus pieces, gelatine, onion, eggs, parsley and turmeric. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Carefully fold through the cream. Spoon into the prepared flan and sprinkle with a little cayenne pepper. Decorate with extra asparagus spears. Chill for 2 hours before serving

I don't mind you pasting them to other threads - possibly have breached copyright laws by putting them in here but hopefully if it generates more sales of condensed milk Nestle may overlook that

kirinesha, Dec 31, 2:06am
I'm sure Nestle will be delighted.

darlingmole, Dec 31, 2:12am
seriously my dear mother would make us cold tinned spaghettie sandwiches for lunch wrapped in wax paper ... by wich time they're dissovled into soggy much ~ but hey! when you're a hungrey kids you'll eat anything! !

davidt4, Dec 31, 2:22am
pgta, I strongly recommend that you read through this thread from the beginning before you go to the trouble of pasting in any more recipes. The ones you have given are not nearly funny enough.

pgta, Dec 31, 3:02am
I do realise that - I was actually being sarcastic by posting them.

Everyone was dissing the condensed milk so much I thought I would show how versatile it actually is.

To be honest if there is ever a major disaster I would be happy to have a few tins stored in the cupboard to survive on. The "make everything from fresh brigade" will be lining up on my doorstep asking for them.

Actually the Quiche recipe above could probably also incorporate the corned beef and pineapple that another poster was wanting

kirinesha, Dec 31, 3:11am
~~Chocolate pudding made with CM and tofu~~

• One package Organic Tofu
• 8 tablespoons Cocoa
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk

Directions:
Combine all ingredients into a food processor and blend for 30 seconds
Scrape down bowl and process until smooth
Refrigerate for 2 hours and serve

buzzy110, Dec 31, 3:14am
Now that's more like it pgta. You would have won the Chop Chop Chicken challenge hands down if you'd substituted some of the ingredients with the chicken and Mr Cheese.

None of us are THAT clever.

I'm upset to think that with all my hoard of fermented foods, chutneys, relishes and sour dough baking skills that the non-purists wouldn't be knocking down my door. Especially as I have facilities, and know how to cook without a microwave oven and power on tap. Surely that has to count for something in the event of disaster? lol

pgta, Dec 31, 3:35am
Actually you could easily put the Chop Chop chicken and Mr Cheese into that quiche as well - we are only hindered by our lack of imagination.

uli, Dec 31, 6:04am
I think the "make everything from fresh brigade" may then be in the garden harvesting and checking the traps :)

pgta, Dec 31, 6:25am
Assuming of course that the flood, tornado, tsunami, swarm of locusts hasn't destroyed it

uli, Dec 31, 6:33am
That is right pgta - and lets hope your can opener works too :)
