Bran Muffins - are they really bad for you?

If you had a muffin every day, and you were in a state of energy balance, then you would not gain weight. If you were in negative energy balance, then you would lose weight. Weight gain is a function of excess energy (calories), and not a function of muffins.

ellihen, if I were in Chch and were untouched by the quake I'm sure I would be in the soup kitchens, or my own campervan, creating more healthy, savoury foods for people to nourish them during this time of tragedy, rather than giving them useless muffins, that neither satisfy the stomach, nor the soul.

Just enjoy life. If you want to eat what you want, just do it, or have your life controlled by so called "experts" usually funded by those with a vested interest. Remember which ever side you choose you will die just the same and healthy eating or not won't make you live longer.

vintagekitty, Feb 24, 12:35am
good one buzzy, use a tragedy to try and push your opinion AGAIN. Says more about you than the rest of the droning

wasgonna, Feb 24, 12:35am
What a jerk.

buzzy110, Feb 24, 12:36am
Obviously you have not remembered the proof posted that "calories in vs calories out" is a myth and so you respond with a post that means absolutely nothing. How does one, for instance achieve that happy nirvana of a "state of energy balance" or, for that matter a "state of negative energy balance"? that statement means nothing at all.

Hunger is a deep, atavistic sensation, driven by your amygdala. It is what we experience in order to survive. Put yourself in a state of "negative energy balance" and your hunger will override all other states of mind and philosophies.

With exercise. Aerobic exercise not only uses energy, but is helps control the appetite.

what a nasty comment, however, nothing from this poster surprises me any more. As for you nourishing peoples bodies and souls...you have no soul.

cookessentials, Feb 24, 12:55am
I have given the link below to the healthy food guide with some ideas on healthier muffins for you to bake.

I find this comment abominable in the extreme. Muffins are quick to make and cook, can be eaten with one hand while the others does something else. I'm sure the Search and Rescue teams have time to wait while you cook the so-called healthy food and then sit down to eat it. I have no doubt there is soup among the food being supplied. Get real, soup can not be eaten on the go. nor can anything else which cannot be held in the hand.

Really...I am sure your extremely large ego must be quiteheavy

vintagekitty, Feb 24, 1:25am
lol,hahaha

vintagekitty, Feb 24, 1:26am
I think it says ALOT about the person making the comments

elliehen, Feb 24, 1:52am
I'll happily throw in my lot with yours, kay141.I don't know you, or anything about you, except the reasonableness of your posts.

buzzy110 knows nothing about me either, but it doesn't stop her from inventing stuff :)

kay141, Feb 24, 2:26am
Maybe she could write fiction in her spare time and then push those books all over the messageboards. It would make a change from her favourite American authors.

cookessentials, Feb 24, 2:28am
what do you mean? this poster already does that...its all fiction

cookessentials, Feb 24, 2:29am
what do you mean? this poster already does that...its all fiction
Fiction is any form of narrative which deals, in part or in whole, with events that are not factual, but rather, imaginary and invented by its author

melissaliam, Feb 24, 2:30am
Good on you all..... Buzzy needs to fly away and leave childish remarks to her swam

kay141, Feb 24, 2:32am
Oops sorry, I meant fiction as in something that might sell. Mills and Boon? Vampires seem to be the in thing.

sue1955, Feb 24, 2:36am
Good grief. Here we go yet again. Another thread ruined by the usual know alls. I used to enjoy 'Recipes', but I think I'll give up coming into it.

buzzy110, Feb 24, 2:42am
An elli using the tragedy to take a dig at me goes unnoticed.

cookessentials, Feb 24, 2:54am
dont apologise Kay, it was "tongue in cheek"

buzzy110, Feb 24, 2:58am
I thought you were all supposed to be thinking about the people of Chch and offering them comforting words of solace. Dreaming up ideas that I should be writing fiction seems well off the mark. Oh and not in the least bit nasty I see because you are all such wonderful, lovely people.

cookessentials, Feb 24, 3:06am
should be? you do.

elliehen, Feb 24, 3:22am
Come back to the Recipes - Circle of Friends!!! thread - with the big red heart.

There is an unwritten rule that posters do not go into combat there about food or diet or anything controversial...and it's full of wonderful, welcoming people talking straight to one other.
