pigs fry- nicer and cheaper- or a pot of chicken livers on rice risotto goes a long way. Lasagna made with cottage cheese. 500 gramms of Chickpeas makes a huge pot full. I never eat meat. let them get used to going without and set your priorities on your mortgage

Are you sure it's protein your missing it's more than likely Iron...

prawn_whiskas, Feb 14, 5:20pm
When the body craves meat, its iron you're low in.

So if finances don't allow you to go out and get some steak, eat something iron rich from the veggie area.

Nuts and cheese are expensive. The OP has not got the money at the moment. Lentils and other pulses are a good alternative. Google for lentil & bean recipes eg patties, loaf, vege & lentil/chickpea stew,. Many Asian recipes use a lot of veges and just a very small amount of meat. Good luck and hope things improve for you soon.

what have you got in the fridge/freezer/pantry?

lookingfor, Apr 18, 4:57pm
Chicken frames is very cheap, boil up for the liquid and you can make vegs soup with anything you have in the pantry with it
