In the fridge it is.. do you think it's still ok?
it was freshly slaughtered and frozen in
the roast has been 'living' there now for a year..

or do I give it to the dogs?

Umm - Do you mean deep freeze?

I reckon that it will still be fine if frozen.

depends on how good your freezer is have a look at it and if you can see ice in the meat i would give it too the dogs

How long meat keeps has got nothing to do with "how good the freezer is" ... but all with how cold it was and how well it was packaged (= thickness of plastic bag used).

Ideally you want thick plastic and a temperature below minus 18 degrees C.

If the plastic was thin or torn you will have freezer burn - which is fine to eat - but tastes revolting...

If the temperature has been too high then the fat would have gone rancid and would be not very nice to eat...

So go to the freezer and the meat and inspect - then decide.

As an aside: I have eaten meat that was frozen for 7 years with no ill effect (and it tasted very nice too) - BUT I use very thick plastic to package my meat (which you never can buy in a normal supermarket) AND my freezer temps are below minus 22 degrees C at all times - often lower.
