White Vinegar vs. White Wine Vinegar

Hi. I have been given a recipe for mayonaise (which ive been told is really good) and it calls for 2T of wine vinegar. I dont have any in the cupboard, but do have some white and malt vinegar, as well as lemons. Can i just substitute and use white vinegar instead? or should i water it down, add lemon juice or sugar or anything to it first. Thanks!

Try it with the lemon juice first, then if it needs more 'tang' I would suggest white vinegar added a little at a time.
