or are you talking about storing an iced cake? Mine do that after a few days, but my family don't seem to care :) If you're worried about it, maybe store the cake in the fridge. Or, if you know the cake won't get eaten in more than 3 or more days, after you've iced it and it's set, cut the cake in half and freeze one of the halves. I do that quite often when I'm doubling recipes and baking a big cake in a roasting tin.
