I keep a container in the freezer and when I break off the asparagus stems I put in this. When I have enough ends I make a soup, yum.

I'll give this a go, saves overdosing on it now and not having it available the rest of the time. :)

Hi, i think i read on here a few weeks ago that you can cook asparagus by washing it and put on a plate and microwave not sure how long does anyone know the time looking for the easy way out being a mere male.

What a **great** idea, thanks. I hate waste (why didn't I think of doing that?). I'm gonna copy you.

It's at the very end of it's season by Xmas so you'd be lucky finding NZ fresh. Now is a great time to stock up on the specials and freeze.

Asparagus can it be frozen and when thawed can you cook it like normal?

cgvl, Dec 5, 8:53am
yes you can freeze Asparagus and then cook as per normal. Not sure if you need to blanch it now but in the past I have. 2-3 mins in boiling water then into ice cold so it doesn't cook the freeze in portion sizes to suit.

No need to blanch first. Straight iinto pot from frozen, very short time cooking. Like peas.
