Any suggestions?

Baking powder is a dry chemical leavening agent, a mixture of a carbonate or bicarbonate and a weak acid. commonly bicarbonate of soda, and cream of tartar.

carter441, try using lythande1's advice as follows. for every 1 tsp baking powder, use 1 tsp cream of tartar and ½ tsp baking soda.

Hope that helps and is what you're wanting. :-))

Yes - that sounds excellent! Have you actually tried this?

I used to make up my own Baking Powder in this way. I can't remember the quantities I used but really it is no more "natural" than, say Edmonds, except that you make it up as you go so it has no 'keeping' ingredient or 'keep lump free' ingredient in it but it isn't "natural" in the true sense.

Nowdays I don't do very much baking but on the odd occasion when I do bake. yes. I usually use the cream of tartar and baking soda. :-))

Are they not all natural agents?
