I have an Aussie recipe for Xmas pud that uses Parisian essence....now after much googling I figure this is an Australian ingredient sometimes called browning essence, but I can't findit anywhere in the supermarket.Does anyone know of a good substitute or whether it can be safely left out?

Hi Ipac. Its called 'Gravy Browning' made by Hansells.and all it would do is give your pud a nice dark brown colour.I feelyou could safely omit it.
