I was just going to make some coconut rough, but the recipe calls for 1 Tbspn golden syrup (which I'll be buying tomorrow) in the base. Could I use maple syrup instead, or would I be better to make something else tonight? The maple syrup isn't the 'real deal' - just the Chelsea one. TIA

the only diff should be in flavour, but for one tbspn i would suggest that would be minimal

Should be fine...Golden Syrup is just another less refined sugar and gives the mix a darker colour.
