I use about half the rec amount, if using paste. Then sample the mix to see if more is needed. It is quite concentrated so you usually need less than if adding the liquid vanilla essence.

As far as I know its the same, which works out quite expensive. 1tsp vanilla extract = 1 tsp vanilla paste. I made my own vanilla extract a week ago so waiting for it to brew :) Bought vanilla paste to use in the meantime as they only had that or essence at Pak n Scab.

Yeah that's what I thought - I guess it's just trial and error as I find it has a slightly different flavour to the usual "liquid" extract

1 tsp paste is equal to a vanilla bean.
