Smoked Kingfish - need a good substitute

I have a recipe for Smoked Kingfish & Coconut Fishcakes but wondering if there is another smoked fish I could use. Any connoisseurs of fish out there!!

For fishcakes it wouldn't matter what smoked fish you'd use - you could use even the tinned version as it is going to be all mashed up and fried anyway.

I might just try Hoki - and if the fishcakes are a real success then I'll use smoked salmon next time. Thanks all!

Bit of a price difference between Hoki and salmon. the hoki would be closer to Kingfish than salmon, but the salmon would be the nicest.

Tinned salmon also works well in fish cakes and yes you can get tinned smoked salmon.
