On the ceramic top of my oven, there is "stuff" between the ceramic surface and a raised metal surround.I have Assumed that the "stuff" is some kind of sealant, as when I have tested pulling it away from the metal, it has a rubbery or silicon quality.
I am checking that I have made the right assumption, cos if it is years' worth of gunk, that would be seriously icky on my behalf, for leaving it like that.
