Salmon for dummies - I've bought a pouch of a smoked salmon (steak! not the thin slices) - do I just warm it through! Thanks!

The pack should say if it's ready to eat as is, in which case you don't need to heat it at all.But if you want to anyway, I would try steaming it for 5 mins or so, that way it doesn't dry out.

I've never cooked smoked salmon - hot or cold smoked. Sometimes hot recipes have it as an ingredient and it is usually stirred through last. Usually it is just eaten as it is with no further treatment other than slicing, etc. Is yours hot or cold smoked! I've not seen unsliced cold smoked salmon before.

There is no need to heat smoked salmon, whether hot-smoked or cold-smoked.Cold-smoked will be ruined by heating. If it is in a big lump just slice it as thinly as you can with a sharp knife.Serve with lemon wedges or crème fraîche.
