maybe heat it a little, sit the jar under the hot water tap. You won't want to chip the glass, an ice cream stick may be a handy tool.

Put it into hot water in the sink, then as the air inside expands use a knife to prise it open. You will need a new rubber ring anyway, so it doesn't matter if you damage it.

What works for me is to stab the top a few times with a pointed knife.This releases the vacuum and you can prize it off by putting the knife in one of the holes and use a bit of lever action.
Ooops.I'm talking standard AGEE jars, not the other type with the glass lid and wire lever.
