I am new to preserving etc. I am wanting to make my own pickles. When I go to the supermarket and buy it, I looked on the jar and the picture showed: cauli and a couple of other veges which I cant remember. Is there a set way to make pickles, does anybody have a recipie thats dummy proof for a newbie like me! I can do the beetroot thing and its yummy as. I like the idea of growing things from my garden that I can have in the winter and only if I get really broke and desperate I buy beetroot. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, tia.

But wait until there is a glut of veges in the shops or roadside stalls, when you can buy them at reasonable prices. (Late January, February and March)
