Replacement for gelatine for glaze?

Have made Easter (hot cross) buns for the first time ever, (avoiding weeding the garden if truth be told), they are in the oven at the moment, but I don't have gelatine for the glaze. Have got some arrowroot - would that be okay to use? Thanks in advance.

You could melt some jam (apricot is best, but whatever), mix with water and use that.

you can boil together water and sugar and use that to glaze
