Out of cornflour, what to use!

I have a casserole thing in the slow cooker and its not as thick as I like but alas I have run out of cornflour! Can i use regular flour!

You could or you could make a roux paste - melt a little butter and then add some sugar and stir it till you have a very thick paste.Use a little of the paste stirred into the casserole to thicken it.If you use just the flour mix it a little at a time with some water - its quite hard to get all the lumps out so keep stirring or strain it into the casserole.Flour actually holds better in casseroles I think.

1/2 cup or less of dried red lentils will thicken a casserole.

Potato flakes are good for this, just sprinkle inwhile stirring untill you have the right consistency.
