Bolar roast is fantastic in crockpot.I put some oil in crockpot first so meat won't stick to base, I just wiped the oil around the base and sides.
Then oiled the meat a little as well and rolled in packet of Maggi Mushroom Soup.
That's all, left it for 5 hours on high, and a lovely gravy stock came out and the meat just broke away so tenderly, it was so tasty.

Thank you so much for your answers, yes I freely admit that crockpot is probably not gourmet but needs must. :)

Please whats yours! I have people coming for dinner but they have no idea what time so I thought instead of trying to hold the meal for ages, I would do a crockpot dish, then it should still be ok whenever they show up, I'm vain enough to want the food to still be semi fabulous, so any ideas most appreciated even non crockpot ideas, TIA

my old in a hurry stand by fav:chop up any of the following and throw in with chicken pieces/cassarole or stewing steak/sasauges - chunky chopped carrot/parsnip/kumera/spud/bro-
c/cauli/onion/mixed veg/apple/(apricots with the chicken)/mushrooms/capsicans/f-
resh or tined toms.then i just add any of the following herbs etc: soya sauce/worshire sauce/chilly sauce/hoising sauce/garlic/ginger/mushroom stock/beef stock/cumin/garamasala/etc
then just cover with water and add cornflour mixed in water to a paste and add that before the cooking starts so that the thickening happens as it cooks.put it on as ya walk out the door or head off to bed at night - just lovely.

Hi Jase320,
What sort of vinegar do you use in the Tarragon Chicken?Just white, or malt, or something fancy? :)

Maggi Chicken Chassaur. If I am pressed for time.
I brown the onion and skinless chicken pieces and a few mushrooms are nice too, the night before.
Leave in the fridge over night and throw it all in the crockpot with a Maggi Chicken Chassaur pkt mixed with water poured over.Cook on low, this is my old faithful and I haven't struck anyone who hasn't enjoyed it including children.Only thing i, if it is for more than three I find I need to use two pkts.
If it is just for family I put in the potatoes washed with the skin on, peeled kumara, andcarrots as well.
That just leaves something green such as peas or spinach is nice.
