Yes.My 30+ year old Kenwood is definitely up there amongst the most used appliances for me although if I were buying one nowadays I would choose a Kitchenaid.

You don't have to but egg whites do whip up fluffier and more quickly. I suspect it's because plastic holds some of the fatty residues from previous use and fats inhibit the aerating of the whites. My Mum's old Kenwood had a plastic bowl, though, and it didn't stop us making plenty of fantastic pavs in it.

I personally prefer glass or stainless steel now as I often make recipes involving hot sugar syrup going straight in, and I would be worried about wrecking a plastic bowl.
