Cake decorators, help please :)

I am going to have a go at decorating a cake for my daughter and am going to do a practise cake first. Can you recommend good brands of fondant icing & royal icing that don't crack or crease easy. Also I am wanting to use some stencils that you use for lace work etc, what do you use in them, is it just fondant and the stencil peels off? Any other tips welcome. TIA

Bakels- all supermarkets sell them, P & S cheapest.
You need special mixture for the lace- I get mine from KIwi Cakes on line. Sandra at Kiwi Cakes v helpful. I am doing wedding cake for daughter and have attended some classes this year in cake decorating. U tube has plenty of helpful tips too, or Wilton's web site. Good luck!

Sandra is away at the moment, but her staff are great too :-) Try working a little kremelta into your pettinice to help prevent cracking- and do you use cornflour, not icing sugar- for rolling out? :-)
