Me too JB. I really enjoyed it - watched it with my Daughter - chatting to her on the phone to Hamilton as we both watched. thanks Vodafone for their Bestmates plan and long phone calls!

Well done to Nadia. and it'll be great to see how they both continue with careers with food.

.I thought she had great empathy all the way through tonight as well. She may get emotional but she sure could hold it together on the night .lovely young woman who deserved to win.

charlieb2, May 16, 11:25am
lol juliewn. I have a hearing loss so dont 'do' the phone. but mum and I were texting each other! lol

Hi Julie
I thank Vodafone too. It's so good to just call whenever and chat about mother/daughter, friend stuff. I hope all is well with you. I don't get through the boards much anymore but think of all the lovely people here and will come on to look for ideas periodically. Erica

I really enjoyed watching last nights final. Up until last night I was expecting Jacks to win. I felt really happy for Nadia, she certainly was a gracious winner.I also felt gutted for Jacks, it just wasn't her night, When the desert tower crashed,it was like watching a masterchef contestants worst night mare.I would love to see the uncut version of the show.

Re the books - I can't say I'm even a bit interested in Nadia's concept but I'd definitely have bought Jax's book. The tv producers must have been thrilled with such a dramatic ending. Well dione Nadia - I think she rose to the occasion better than Jax. As soon as Jax 'froze' you could tell she wasn't going to win.

Had a wee giggle thinking how for example Stu would had done that tower and more so with Cameron - on what he would had done with that porker, hmmm, we will never know.

The ladies did exceptionally well though with the pork and beef wellingtons.

Nadia to me did the most logical thinking though although did feel for Jax, she had the more real cooking mind, nadia knew more on presentation and showed a trick or two especiually when cooking the pork piece and she is the winner and well done.

Did admire them both both and stu did lack that finese when it was needed, cheers

Oh, agree with the comment of viewing the uncut video of the show, think it will be hilarious although did agree with one of the judges and did noticed how Jax was placing them onto the tower that it did look messy.

lizab, May 17, 4:43am
Jax started assembling her macaroon flower frenzy (or whatever stupid name it was) 5 or 10 mins before Nadia - how come it was so messy! It didn't look as though she even tried to copy the perfect one on display! Nadia's was immaculately put together. I was gutted though, as I really wanted Jax to win - but, the best girl definitely won on the night.

spotswood, May 17, 4:48am
I enjoyed the show but already knew the winner when I went to pak n save sunday morning and there was this weeks new idea already on the shelves with Nadia's face splashed on the front cover !A bit like hearing the rugby score before seeing the game!

zambesi2, May 17, 7:38am
Lizab,,apparently it was all in the way Jax assembled it.She placed the macaroons on top of one another instead of placing them off centre. The dynamics of the incorrect positioning meant that once one fell there was nothing to hold them in place.Hope you understand what I've tried to say LOL.
Shame I wanted Jax to win as well, but hey the best girl on the night won.Good on her.

Was racing thru the checkout today and just caught a glimpse of one of the magazines - I don't buy them so didn't recognize which - but what caught my attention was Jac's face and the caption something about 'being in love with a woman'.Didn't have time to look any further.I looked expecting it to say something about 'coming second or how she felt when her tower collapsed.

seniorbones, May 17, 10:21am
I was surprised how long ago the final was filmed, 6 months and it sounded like even their families (apart from the ones who came in at the end) didnt even know who had won, Jax said she watched it with her family and friends and they thought that she had won it. I dont think I could have kept it secret for so long I would want all the prizes straight away!

I saw an advert last night looking for contestants for the next series - I'm looking forward to it already - just love the show.

bedazzledjewels, Feb 20, 12:10am
again tonight.
I hope it improves as much as the Australian one did in its second series.
I see that they've releaed a book of recipes from the first series. Do you think they'll bring out a magazine to cover this series!

kiwibubbles, Feb 20, 12:15am
i think the womens weekly will be reporting on it every week.

elliehen, Feb 20, 12:22am
I love to watch it, but has anyone here actually been inspired to make many of the recipes! It is in the genre of Idol TV, and for many I suspect the appeal is not so much the cooking but the zany competitive kitchen, the joys and the heartbreak.

bedazzledjewels, Feb 20, 12:59am
Entertainment first you reckon Ellie!
Interesting though that the magazine was a huge seller in OZ, so I guess someone cooked something out of them.

rosathemad, Feb 20, 1:04am
I made the chocolate marquise and tuiles from last season - in cupcake form - but then I may be crazier than many. ;-) The marquise was fantastic, though. The invention challenge recipes I probably wouldn't bother with. You're absolutely right though, elliehen, about it being about the drama more than the food.

motorbo, Feb 20, 2:17am
and we get eye candy this year :) with the new judge :) but of course the food comes first! LOL

bedazzledjewels, Feb 20, 7:44am
Motorbo - he's certainly eye candy!

wearitout, Feb 20, 8:05am
Hehe - the eye candy is my cousin! GO JOSH!

pickles7, Feb 20, 8:33am
WOW! what a talented young lad.

kiwibubbles, Feb 20, 9:28am
were there three judges on masterchef last year! if so, who was the third!

kiwibubbles, Feb 20, 9:28am
I can remember Vinnie and that other one (not Josh) from last year.

elliehen, Feb 20, 11:02am
Wasn't it that very tall, burly Australian 'Matt' someone-or-other!The one with longish dark hair who twirled his cufflinks!Looked a bit like someone from The Sopranos.
