Hi, how long do I cook a 1.7kg piece of corned beef in a pressure cooker for once it's come to the boil and I turn it down?Thx

My pressure cooker book says 12 minutes per 400g, so I guess that would be about 50 mins for your piece of c/beef.

My grandma used to cook in a pressure cooker.The thing would hiss and roar and spit -and I was sure it was going to blow the kitchen up any minute! I prefer my crockpot!

Yes, they are noisy and like honeybean I now prefer my CP too.It took me a long time to get used to using my PC, bought for us as a wedding present many moons ago in the UK.I didn't have any disasters but I remember a friends Mum cooking beetroot in her PC and it blew.There was red beetroot juice etc all over the stove, walls & ceiling.
