Help? is almond extract the same as almond essence

I have a recipie that I want to try that calls for 2 tbs Amaretto Liquer, or 2 tsp almond extract. the liquer is to expensive but I can only find almond essence not almond extract, are they one in the same thanks

It is stronger though.
Extract is made from almonds and essence is almond flavoured.

No, they are not. An essence is made from artificial flavours and chemicals to give one the "taste" almond extract is completely different, almond extract is a pure, natural product made from the oil of bitter almonds.

59 mls costs $14.50 you dont need much. You can tell how good it is when you smell it.
