I have a gourmet cooker it has the oven at the bottom and firebox on top. Made for heat first and cooking second. But have got it down to a fine art now. Just put in a whole pumpkin stuffed with sausage meat and herbs and a potato bake. It will cook slowly all day. Bu I am sure you could do the same on top in a camp oven.

hubby put beef bones and vegs in the big pot put it on top of the fire place, and at 10pm here we were having soup and toast. didnt seem to take very long at all. i keep a kettle of water on and use it for coffee etc.
