has anyone used corn syrup as a glaze for a dried fruit topping on a christmas cake? If so, where did the buy the corn syrup from? Have used sieved apricot jam before, any other suggestions greatly appreciated thanks

have used corn syrup but not for glazing. Got it from the baking aisle. Was a long time ago though.

It's used in brewing. Sold as liquid glucose in brewshops or in cake icing shops, or, very expensively, at the chemist. It will keep indefinitely in a clean glass jar in your fridge. However, sieved apricot jam, cooked down to make a glaze, is a much better option, IMO.

Thank you for that! Sounds like I should stick to the jam!! (Didn't realise that corn syrup was the same as liquid glucose-I do have that in the pantry)

I don't think it is the same as liquid glucose.You can get it quite cheaply at Asian supermarkets - its used in Korean desserts so look in the Korean food section.

Sorry, but it IS liquid glucose, thoughthere are other liquid glucose products made from different starches. http://www.ochef.com/362.htm

I have bought corn syrup in the Asian section of a suoermaket near where a lot of Asian people reside. It is Korean I think and it is very reasonably priced.
