Hi there. I am looking at making Chutney as a Christmas Gift this year.Does anyone have a recipe for something yummy that doesn't require buying alot of expensive ingredients?Thanks!

Beetroot Chutney 3lb beetroot 1&1/2lb apples 2 onions 1tsp salt 1 pint vinegar 1/2tsp ground ginger 1/2lb sugar juice of a lemon Cook beetroot in salted water 1 hr. Dice beetroot & apples, mince onions. Mix apples & onions & all ingredients except beetroot. Boil 20 mins. Add beetroot, boil 15 mins. Bottle & seal.

Thanks for the help.I have plenty of apples already but happy with anything as long as the vege is seasonal and not to expensive.Something that looks nice in the jar to give as a gift also.

Ok - Aunt Daisy recipies Apple Chutney 4lb apples 2lb tomatoes 2 large onions 1lb sugar 1/4lb salt 1/2oz gr ginger 1/4tsp cayenne 1/4oz allspice 1qt vinegar 1lb seedless raisins Skin tomatoes, mince apples & peeled onions. Tiespicesin a muslin bag. Boil all together in saucepan aprox 1 hour till brown & cooked.
Apple Chutney 2qt apples, cut small (strange amount) 2lb sugar 2c seeded raisins Finely chopped or grated rind of 2 oranges 1/2c malt vinegar 1/2tsp groun cloves 1c chopped nuts Boil all together till aples & nuts are tender
Apple & Mint Chutney (sounds yummy) 1/2lb tart apples 1/2lb ripe tomatoes 1&1/2c seeded raisins 2c sugar 2tsp salt 1/2c finely chopped mint leaves 3c malt vinegar 2tsp mustard 1&1/2tsp lack pepper Mince tomatoes, apples & raisins. Boil vinegar & spices 5mins. When cold mix together.

does anyone have the recipe for Apricot Chutney like the Anathoth chutney at all please?
