The bottom of our electric oven (gas hob) has actually corroded (the steel) so i can see through into the inside and the elements. I put a silver foil tray over it but it ended up sticking to the bottom and melting!
Other day there was a poof sound and it had 'blown up' as I'd put it. No power. Turned out the power board fuse had popped? Oven took a while to come back to life but then did. However i tried some baking other day and it was very poor (not that am much good at it). How can i tell the ovens cooking evenly and okay or not? Boyfriend says got to be fine because it's coming up to temp and then thermostat is doing what it normally does. ??

It may seem as though i'ts heating to the right temperature, but mght not, you can test it perhaps

Sounds like a fire risk. Get a sevicemans opinion.
