Its my birthday early November and am getting organised early.. I

On my list so far is..
my amazing truffles (depends on my level of motivation)
french stick with cream cheese & pesto
scones with jam and cream

Our workplace is very keen on savouries but I'm not forking out for them so wonder if people have some alternatives that can be heated up in the microwave?

That sounds just fab already. Not many savoury things heat well in the microwave. Just do what you want - just because they like savouries, doesn't mean they always have to have them.

Savoury Pinwheel Scones

1 egg
½ cup milk
1 pkt dried soup mix (flavour of your choice)
½ cup relish or chutney

Method:
Sift flour into food processor and add soup mix, milk, butter and egg.
Mix until smooth. Work the dough into a ball and knead well. Roll out into a rectangle 30 x 12cm.Spread relish or chutney right over to the edges then roll up tightly.Cut the roll into 12 pieces and place on baking paper on tray, or in greased muffin tins. Bake 15-20 minutes at 200 degrees C.

Personally, I would choose things which can be made (or part made) and frozen - unless your birthday is on a Monday.

I make neenish tart case (see Edmond Recipe Book) - and freeze them.
Chocolate Cake and Ice it on the day.

Adults love Cherrios - which can be microwaved

asparagus rolls or chicken rolls (like asparagus rolls but with shredded chicken)

duckmoon, Oct 21, 5:34am
have a look at on the recipe messageboard - search for club sandwiches - no heating required

duckmoon, Oct 21, 5:35am
what about vege sticks (celery, carrots, capsicum) with some nice dips

cheese board - with things like carmelised onions and dried fruit and grapes

duckmoon, Oct 21, 5:36am
savoury muffins or savoury scones

Last year I took a couple of packets of merangue nests a couple of cans of squrity cream and some fresh strawberrys and grapes and told the gang to go for it.Interactive food - it was great, and highly enjoyed by all.
