Pumpkin Soup. 2 kg peeled pumpkin 2 medium chopped onions 2 tsp chicken stock handful of parsley 2 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper 1 tsp of a good hot curry powder, [medium hot would be fine] cover with water and bring to simmer simmer untill cooked. Use a stick blender to mush up. Should be thick, hot and tasty.

Lentil or Pea Soup - I have only ever used lentils.
500g lentils (green or brown) or split peas - wash and sort 8 cups water 1 cup chopped celery 1 cup chopped onion 1 ½ cups chopped carrots ¼ tsp dried thyme 1 pinch cayenne pepper 1 bay leaf
Put all ingredients in a large pot and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 40 minutes until lentils or peas are tender.
Puree the soup with a stick blender until it reaches the consistency you like (either smooth or lumpy isOK). Add pepper and salt to taste. Reheat to boiling point. Can be served with sour cream.
I got it from the internet and like it because it's so straightforward. It is probably *not* the most attractive soup you will ever make.
