Large vegetable garden, growing comfrey, potatoes cauli etc etc, using old fashioned orange rotary hoe. Lupins in garden to dig back into soil. chinese gooseberry fruit vine (kiwi fruit) growing madly over frame work.
Picking javas from huge tree at 'my gran's, making java jelly which was strained over muslim cloth into a huge china bowl. Bottling fruit, startingwith the picking, then peeling, we thought we were the bees knees when we got this new peeling contraption that clamped to the bench or table.
Bagging and labelling meat from a beast for thefreezer which was a buit in one in a whole room in our old farm house. Washing boards, sunlight soap, wringer on tub, copper in wash house (laundry). Mincing raw meat or left overs by hand. Plucking ducks, & chooks on clothes line after they had been dipped in very hot water. Collecting freshly laid eggs, to make all kinds of lovely goodies (includingspanish cream, ) listening to Aunt Daisy. Helping take home made food & beverages out to hay makers, workers etc
