A miracle nibble from pastry?

girlsrus, Jun 5, 3:28am
I have guests later. I have some pastry sheets (the kind you use for bacon and egg pie). Is there some miracle-eas-peasy-looks amazing way I can bake wee squares or something?

*looks hopeful*

you could just cut them into triangles or squares sprinkle with cheese and paprika or herbs... or perhaps poppy seeds. . or even pop some relish or sweet chilli sauce on first then the cheese? ?

onion and cheese pastry straws:
1 cup finely grated cheese, 1 beaten egg, 2 tablespoons packet onion soup mix, 4 sheets pre-rolled flaky pastry defrosted.
preheat oven to 200 c
Lightly grease 1-2 baking trays or line iwth baking paper.
mix the cheese, egg and onion soup mix together.
Spread half of mixture over one sheet of pastry and top with second sheet.
Roll firmly once or twice with a floured rollilng pin to join the layers together.
Use a wetted knife to cut into long 0. 5 -1 cm wide strips. Twist the strips and place on trays.
Press the ends of the strips to the trays to prevent strips from unravelling when baking.
repeat with remaining ingredients.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 mins or until the straws are lightly golden and cooked.
Transfer to a cake rack to cool and store in an air tight container or eat .

those straws sound nice winnie. #1 if you have some asparagus tinned would be ok, cut rectangles in pastry, prick some holes brush on egg wash and sprinkle with parmesan cheese (ordinary cheese probably ok), and lay an asparagus spear in the middle, bake in 180 degree oven till golden.

Roll pastry into a triangle and spread with basil pesto, sprinkle chopped sundried toms over (semi-soft ones in oil), toast some pinenuts and roughly chop and sprinkle over then feta cheese crumbled over, sprinkle black pepper and bring one side in one third of the way then do the same on other side then fold over the top of each other (Three folds) like palmiers trim ends then slice and put on baking tray and bake 15 mins 400 (200c) very tasty.
