Help! Aussie Pastry

tahnasha, Jun 24, 4:44am
I'm in Aussie and I want to make apple pies.I use to buy sweet short pastry in NZ and it was the best (I don't really want to make my own pastry if I don't have to).In Aussie they only have puff pastry, sweet pastry.I'm not sure if their sweet pastry is sweet short, or could it be fluffy sweet, LOL.I googled sweet short pastry for Aussie, and it said it's sometimes called French Flan pastry but I can't find that either.Has anyone used sweet pastry in Oz?

tahnasha pampas has different types of short pastries.I have seen many more in the bigger supermarkets than just the puff and sweet pastry.

Woolworths and Coles stock the full range and they even have their own homebrand and also one or two other brands I cannot think of.I do usually make my own but will use pampas if I need to.

Good luck

I know you said you don't want to make your own but I have made this one from Masterchef and it is really nice and easy too.

So is this one the equivalent of sweet short? It says you can use it for meat pies, but I wouldn't use sweet short back in NZ with meat? It's so confusing, I think I'll go try the sweet Coles ones and see what it's like.

I know what you mean tahnasha, when we first moved here and tried the pastry I couldnt believe how awful it was. Now we are used to it though. The pampas one is ok
