Stay away from cereal and yoghurt, almost all are full of carbs and sugars, esp the low fat ones. only one i would recommend is real greek yoghurt, and an expensive muesli like raspberry no granola from pure relish. it only has 12 g of carb per 100 g. Better still is to have eggs and veggies/bacon for breakfast, won't raise insulin at all, and look into fasting to help with insulin sensitivity. Google Dr Jason Fung, he has an excellent book on diabetes just released.

Are you on Facebook? If so, join the LCHF New Zealand group. Low Carb Healthy Fat. the way to go with diabetes. Many, including myself, have had great success with controlling blood sugar levels by following the low carb, healthy fat eating plan. Many have reduced, or taken away the need for meds too. There is heaps on info online - Mrs Google is your friend. And heaps of info and recipes on the Facebook group page too. All the best :-)

Hello, I have been a Type 1 for the last 29yrs. You will soon adapt to cooking etc. However, I see you are in Dunedin so can I suggest your 1st port of call should be Diabetes Otago They will have lots of resources ie recipe books, flyers, also support groups where you would be able to share ideas. Give them a ring I am sure they will be only too please to offer assistance. Even a steinlager pure is okay. Good luck.

Dr Sarah Hallberg's excellent presentation explains the cause of Type 2 Diabetes, why the significant increase in the number of people diagnosed with Type 2 or pre-diabetes and other inflammatory diseases, including heart disease, and how to treat the condition and prevent it from occurring.

Healthy, natural fats are your friend so don't limit them. They help the body and brain to function well and provide a sensation of satisfaction and fullness.
I'm surprised the Heart Foundation hasn't been sued by now because of the outdated, misinformed and downright dangerous dietary advice they give.

Here are a few websites that have easy low carb, low sugar recipes:
https://www.ditchthecarbs.com/ https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/diet-plan https://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/

Type 2 diabetes can be reversed with diet, good luck.

An I would just like to add that EV olive oil is a healthy fat so no need to substitute anything else for it, especial garbage fats like margarine or canola oil.
