I do not want it too spicy but have a glut of tomatoes, which of course is always good when they are so cheap in the shops

Fabulous Tomato relish
12 medium tomatoes peeled 4 onions chopped 450grms white sugar 1 tbsp salt 1 tbsp curry powder 480 ml malt vinegar 1/2 tsp dry mustard powder
Cut up tomatoes and onions, mix all ingredients together and boil for 1 hour. Thicken with 3 tbsp flour mixed with a little vinegar and bottle when cold.

Yes, I too recommend the Edmonds recipe. I have been making it for years and it's lovely.

I recently made Annabelle Langbeins which is pretty close to petal 1955s recipe but used white vinegar, a bit more mustard and cornflour to thicken. It's a beautiful bright colour and very tasty
