make black jelly? I want to make layered jelly squares to resemble licorice allsorts. I have this recipe

which makes white jelly by adding condensed milk to geletin. I'm thinking that to make it resemble licorice, that I could just add black food colouring to the condensed milk? Or would that just go grey? I have both liquid and gel colours. I know I could just experiment butI though I'd ask if anyone has tried this first. I did think about just colouring plain geletin but I was thinking that might be too see through? I am wanting a solid black
