Ok have decided that I want to get a blender as it may save me time as currently only have a hand beater. Sooo do I just go for the basic one or should I save up and get one of the more wiz bang ones!

The breville scaper mixer is not a blender, but a mixer. I have recently purchased one, having, like you only a handheld for years. Love mine, cakes turn out even better now. Probably because I don't have to hang onto the damn thing for ages, so can do a better job of creaming. I don't use the kneading hook, my bread maker does that job.

I love mine.use it nearly every day.I have a scraper but do find you still have to stop whipping and scrap the sides yourself to get a better mix. I wish I had bought one ages ago and like you had a hand mixer for years. Buy one they are great.
