I've done a steamed pudding on high for 3 hours in my crockpot but want to know if it is possible to do it all day on low!Has anyone tried it!

No reason why not, so long as you have plenty of water in it, it should be fine.

I would rather buy a timer so the crock switches on 3 hours before you need it. I suppose it could get rather soggy in that humid atmosphere all day long.

I don't think that a pudding done in the crockpot would be soggy unless it had water actually pour into the pudding bowl. Alison Holst's crockpot Christmas Pudding can be done on low in a crockpot for 10 hours (or on High 5 hours) so I think long slow cooking would be absolutely fine.
